A goal in the opening two minutes saw Craigie slip to an unlucky defeat in a match which was a great advert for EOS first division football. The main surprise from the game being that there were no more goals due mainly to good goalkeeping by Craig Weir and home keeper Darren Walker.
The only goal came when Andy Martin's cross was headed home at the back post by Greg Shortreed, and Walker did well to keep the lead intact minutes later saving from Stevie Manson.
Aaron Sommerville had the ball in the net again for the home side but the linesman's flag halted their celebrations then Weir made his first good save saving at the feet of Paul Greenhill when he was through on goal.
A good solo run from David Anderson gave him a chance to equalise but Walker saved his shot then he thwarted Sammy Hassan who was one on one with him.
Weir saved from Sommerville then from Darren Gillon when the resultant corner wasnt cleared, and play went from end to end Sean Martin had a shot blocked then Anderson headed past before Manson managed to beat Walker but a defender cleared his shot off the line, and just before half time Weir again saved well this time from Greenhill.
Both sides started the second half in the same attacking manner but clear chances were fewer until midway through the half when Weir's kick was flicked on by Martin to Anderson who set up Manson who shot past the keeper but also past the far post, and this let off seemed to spur the home side back into action, and good work by Martin gave Gillon a chance but Weir again did well, and he then saved well from sub Scott Moffat before Sommervile shot into the side net when well placed.
Craigie then had a strong claim for a penalty when Manson appeared to be fouled in the penalty area but the referee ignored their appeals before sub Kris O'Neil's last minute header beat Walker but hit the top of the crossbar and went over then Stuart Martin had the ball in the net in injury time but the linesmans flag was already up. |
