An injury time goal saw Craigie deprived of a deserved point as they lost their unbeaten record.
They almost had the perfect start but Sean Martin saw his shot blocked by home keeper Alex Mitchell then Kevin Robertson shot past when well placed.
Dean Rea had the home sides first attempt on goal but his shot from a free kick went harmlessly over.
Craigie had the better of possession in the first half without creating many clear cut chances and Rea almost gave Gretna the lead at half time but his long range effort went narrowly over.
Dan Carmichael shot over for the home side early in the second half before Martin shot over for Craigie then Stuart Martin shot just wide from 25 yards.
Craigie twice rode their luck as Rea's inswinging free kicks missed everybody and rebounded from the far post and were cleared.
Craig Weir then saved well with his legs from Tony Nicholson as Gretna looked for the opening goal but Craigie should have scored when Lloyd Dignan's cross was headed past by Stuart Martin, and in reply Nicholson headed straight at Weir when unmarked in front of goal.
But just when a draw seemed likely Gretna forced a corner, and from it Nicholson forced the ball home.
Although defeated it was a good performance against a team who are favourites for promotion, and with a bit of luck at least a point could have been earned. |
